What happens when a marketing professional, a passion for tradition, and a touch of ingenuity meet in Norway? You get a transformative entrepreneurial story worth sharing. Welcome to the latest edition of Charge Incubator’s Newsletter, where we highlight Alex Kronenberg, founder of Ties to Norway. Alex turned his love for Norwegian heritage and inclusivity into a unique business venture that’s already creating a buzz among internationals and locals alike.

Whether you're dreaming of launching your own idea, expanding an existing venture, or simply looking for inspiration, Alex’s journey is proof that determination and support can make anything possible.

From the UK to Norway: Where Passion Meets Purpose

After moving to Norway eight years ago, Alex Kronenberg found himself captivated by the beauty and tradition of bunads, Norway’s national costume that represent local regions all over the country. Inspired by the 17th of May celebrations, Alex wanted something he could wear to match his wife's bunad from Øst-Telemark to show his appreciation to his new home in Norway and his connection to his wife's family. The solution he envisioned was Ties to Norway: silk ties featuring traditional bunad patterns, making Norwegian heritage accessible to anyone.

Making Heritage Inclusive

Ties to Norway is more than just an accessory—it’s a bridge connecting internationals and Norwegians to the cultural stories behind each pattern. While the concept of bunad ties already existed, they weren't what Alex had hoped for in terms of fabrics, designs, and prices. By offering a high-quality, affordable alternative, Alex ensures that everyone can feel a sense of belonging and appreciation for Norwegian traditions, and celebrate their ties to Norway.

Lessons from Charge: Turning Vision Into Reality

Alex credits Charge’s Changemaker program for helping him take his idea from concept to reality. “Charge gave me the structure, tools, and confidence to bring Ties to Norway to life,” Alex shares. Through market research, surveys, and mentorship, Alex refined his vision, connected with his audience, and built a sustainable business model.

Alex’s Tip for Entrepreneurs:

“If your idea excites you, go for it. The journey itself is the reward. With programs like Charge, you’ll gain the support and guidance to make it happen.”
